Cameron Diaz says she doesn't care what she looks like anymore

Cameron Diaz has opened up about the impact of having her appearance scrutinized after working in the entertainment industry, but the star is choosing to let it all go.

Speaking on an episode of Michelle Visage's Rule Breakers podcast, the 51-year-old stated that she's now less focused on what she looks like and more focused on other, more important things.

"I don’t care," she said when asked about the topic. "Literally, the last thing I think about on a daily basis, like maybe not at all during the day, is what I look like."
She noted that the industry was incredibly toxic regarding one's appearance.
"You just start to pick yourself apart," she told the host.

Now, her attention has been diverted to more meaningful things, so much so that she joked about barely having time to even wash her face in the mornings or do her skincare.

"Twice a month if I’m lucky, I’ll be like, 'Oh, I better put this on. One time works, right?'", she said. "Is that all I have to do? I’m just not in that place right now like where I put any energy [into worrying about it]."

However, despite her attitude towards it, she's not against anyone who is still wrapped up in it.

"Again, I just go back to the trap of it all, especially in our society like what we value, what we think is important," the actress added. "Look, if it’s important to you, that’s fine."

Diaz has been active in the entertainment industry for decades before she gave it all up a few years ago. She did return to the big screen for a short-lived stint alongside Jamie Foxx for the upcoming action-comedy Back in Action, though there have been no further details released about the Netflix movie as of yet.
Rumors that Diaz had retired from her filmmaking days were sparked after Selma Blair, her co-star from The Sweetest Thing, made the claim, as per a report by Metro UK, that the 51-year-old had chosen to retire.

The Cruel Intentions actress recalled a chat about the prospect of retirement with Diaz, saying: "I had lunch with Cameron the other day. We were reminiscing about [The Sweetest Thing]. I would have liked to do a sequel but Cameron's retired from acting. She’s like 'I’m done.'"

Then later in another interview, Diaz confirmed the rumors, stating: "I’m semi-retired, too, and I am actually retired, so I would love to see you ladies," when speaking of a reunion between Blair, as well as their friend, Christina Applegate.
In the past few years, Diaz's focus has reportedly shifted to her family life due to the time-consuming nature of her job.

"These back-to-back 10-hour workdays have been a lot on her and she hates being away from Raddix," a source close to Diaz told the Daily Mail earlier this year. "Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world."

While Diaz’s husband, Benji Madden, is very supportive of her acting career, her time on set has apparently "been a lot on him."

The pair share a daughter, Raddix Madden, who was born in December 2019.

Taking to Instagram, Diaz and Madden announced the birth of their daughter with an emotional post on the actress's Instagram that read: "We are so happy, blessed, and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden. She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family."
