Sabrina, The Teenage Witch star Caroline Rhea spotted in Sydney

The Canadian actress – who became a global star in a massively popular 90s series – was pictured in Sydney ahead of a high-profile appearance.
More than 20 years after Sabrina, The Teenage Witch wrapped up its seven-year run, one of its main stars has been spotted in Sydney.

Caroline Rhea, 59, shot to international fame as the magical teen’s aunt, Hilda Spellman, in the series which ran from 1996 until 2003.

She also reprised her role – alongside Beth Broderick as Aunt Zelda – in Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina in 2020.

Rhea has now brought her own hit stand-up comedy show, I Identify As A Witch, to Australia as part of the Just For Laughs festival, following a successful run in the USA.
Ahead of her first performance at the Opera House on Wednesday night, the Canadian actress was in Sydney, in a striped mini-dress and black heels. Rhea popped up on Seven’s The Morning Show on Monday, wearing the same outfit, where she opened up about her life changing “utterly and completely” after landing the role on Sabrina.
“I’d been a stand-up comedian for about seven years at that point [when I was cast],” she told hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies.

“But I’ll be ‘Aunt Hilda’ forever … They write ‘Hilda’ on my Starbucks cup! And I still answer to it.”

Rhea also hinted at a fairly loose performance for those attending her comedy show in Australia.

“It’s like a dinner party, I know what I’m serving, [but] I don’t know what my audience is going to be,” she explained.

“I have four hours of material, I have one hour prepared … I don’t know what I’m going to actually pick.”
