Mum warns parents not to let children watch Hocus Pocus 2

As we near closer and closer to spooky season - I'm sure we're all dusting off the cult classics to get ourselves in the spirit of Halloween.
However, it appears there's one particular flick that one mum will definitely not be watching after she warned parents not to let their children watch Hocus Pocus 2.

The movie, which was released last year, is the sequel to its iconic predecessor, Hocus Pocus, which first hit our screens way back when in 1998.

Now, while Hocus Pocus 2 might have been a sequel almost three decades in the making, one Texas mum would rather the Sanderson sisters never returned at all over fears they'd cast spells through her TV screen.

Jamie Gooch, a mum-of-three, warned that the spooky aspects of the family film could potentially corrupt your children with a combination of witchcraft and blood sacrifice.

Gooch told KWTX of the film, which was released on Disney+ on 30 September last year: "A worst case scenario is: you unleash hell on your kids and in your home.

"The whole movie is based on witches harvesting children for blood sacrifices."
Because Hocus Pocus 2 is very much aimed at families and younger children, she found herself in the spotlight after she first took to social media to complain.

She alleged that the film, which stars Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker as the Sanderson sisters, could potentially cast a spell on its audiences - and not a good one.

"Do not watch this film," she wrote in a now-deleted Facebook post.

"Everybody thinks it's fake and innocent, but they could be casting any type of spell that they want to, anything could be coming through that TV screen into your home."

The mum knew herself that her opinion about the film might be controversial, but she figured that the risk of letting Hocus Pocus 2 bewitch families was too great.
She added: "I was a little bit scared when I hit post because I was afraid of the reaction that I would get... the post was for people who've been on the fence on the decisions they need to make for their family."

When it comes to popular media in the spooky department, Hocus Pocus 2 is far from the scariest offering this Halloween, and Gooch said her warning was a general one too.

"I think it goes further than just a movie, it goes further than Halloween, it's a year-round thing, we constantly need to be cautious of what we're consuming, what we're bringing in and what we're sending out," she said.

"I believe whatever comes in our TV screens: there are things attached to that, I've seen for myself the things that I’ve watched with my eyes or heard over a TV screen, they've become manifested in real life, and then I think 'oh my gosh, what did I consume?'"

Gooch ultimately said that while some people have described her as 'crazy', she has overall had a 'positive' reaction to her warning.
