Jada Pinkett Smith breaks down in tears saying she regrets her final words to Tupac

Jada Pinkett Smith was emotional as she remembered her last conversation with Tupac Shakur. Tupac, the rapper, was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting at the age of 25 in 1996. The mystery surrounding his death remained unsolved for nearly thirty years, until last month when Duane 'Keffe D' Davis was arrested in connection with the case.
Prior to his tragic demise, Shakur shared a strong bond with Pinkett Smith, with both of them having attended Maryland's Baltimore School for the Arts in the 80s.

Despite Pinkett Smith consistently affirming that their relationship was never romantic, she revealed that the 'Eyez On Me' rapper had proposed to her. During an appearance on Steve Barlett's Diary Of A CEO podcast to promote her upcoming memoir, Worthy, Pinkett Smith read aloud a portion of the letter that Shakur had written to her from prison.
"In a moment of deep reflection and spiritual awakening, I have come to the realization that the friend, love, and soulmate I've sought has been right there all along," the letter stated.

"I have never encountered anyone who possesses the same intensity and unwavering loyalty that you have shown me. That's why I want to dedicate myself to you. I want to marry you."

The actress from 'Ali,' who recently disclosed her seven-year-long secret separation from husband Will Smith, declined his proposal. Despite this, they remained close friends.

Although their friendship endured, Pinkett Smith and Shakur had a disagreement in the months leading up to the shooting. Their argument revolved around the rapper's behavior following his release from prison.
Reflecting on their falling out after seeing an old picture of herself, Shakur, and their deceased friend Maxine, who tragically took her own life around the same period as the rapper's death, Pinkett Smith shared, "It led to one of the most significant arguments we ever had, revolving around the way he was living, you know?"

"At that moment, I had to firmly express my stance. I genuinely believed that the path he was on wouldn't lead to anything positive. Our disagreement escalated to a level where we were vehemently arguing, going back and forth, extending beyond just the two of us."

The actress revealed that she was typically the one to initiate reconciliation after their disagreements, but this time, she chose to wait for him to reach out to her.

"I stood my ground firmly. I allowed my pride and ego to take over," she reminisced.

"I simply assumed he would always be there, given all he had survived. I viewed Pac as invulnerable at that moment...

"That happened to be the final conversation we had, and you know what's astonishing? It held no significance in the end."
