Cher threatens to leave the United States if Donald Trump wins 2024 election

Cher has made the bold threat that she would leave the United States if Donald Trump were to win the 2024 election.

Trump is running for election once again, after losing in the last vote to current president Joe Biden, and despite facing legal troubles.

One person who's hoping he doesn't end up winning is Cher, who reflected on the turmoil of the previous Trump presidency. She told the Guardian: "I almost got an ulcer the last time."
The singer was chatting with the outlet about her upcoming Christmas album, aptly named Christmas, when the conversation soon took a more serious turn.

The star has been outspoken lately about the issues that Armenians are facing in their country, as her birth father was from the country.
On the subject of political division and her thoughts on the hatred that trans people are subjected to, her attention soon turned to Donald Trump.

"If he gets in, who knows? This time I will leave [the country]," she said.

She fears that Trump and his government will remove rights from trans people and believes the problem is only escalating.

"It’s something like 500 bills they’re trying to pass," she said. "I was with two trans girls the other night – and of course my own child [Chaz is trans]. I was saying 'We’ve got to stand together.' I don’t know what their eventual plan is for trans people. I don’t put anything past them."

Elsewhere in the interview, Cher added some humor by saying: "My life seems to be longer than any other human being ever. I feel like I should be in the Guinness Book of World Records for this. And I’m still going!"

Touching on her upcoming album, Cher revealed that she initially needed some convincing to take on this festive venture.

She explained: "Everyone has done one, so when my manager called and said, 'We’d like you to do this,' my immediate answer was 'No!' He said, 'Just think about it.' So, I sat down and thought, 'What can I do that’s different?'"

This unique holiday album offers a twist on the traditional, as it doesn't overwhelm listeners with relentless traditional Christmas tracks. Approximately half of the album features brand-new material, including tracks like 'DJ Play a Christmas Song' and 'Drop Top Sleigh Ride,' which includes a collaboration with her boyfriend, Alexander 'AE' Edwards, 37.

Cher's romantic life has also made headlines, particularly due to the 40-year age gap with AE. The superstar singer isn't fazed by the public's fascination with their relationship, acknowledging that she never anticipated falling for someone so much younger.

In a candid interview with People, Cher revealed that their love story began through text messages, a practice she had vowed not to engage in. She met AE briefly at Paris Fashion Week a year ago, and to her surprise, a mutual friend shared her phone number with him.
"It was really shocking because people just don’t give out my number," Cher said. She defied her own rule due to the fact that AE was "just so special."

As for the future of their relationship, given the age gap, Cher expressed a pragmatic perspective, saying: "No matter what happens, I love being with him. He makes me laugh, and we have fun.

"What I learned is that it’s never too late. If you wrote out all the statistics, you would go, 'Well, this is doomed.' But we’ve been together a year, and if it was just a year, it would’ve been worth it. I’ve had the best time."
