Mum hits out after £1 Toby Carvery meal deal ends up costing her £20

A mum who was looking for a cheap bite to eat with her family has been left £20 down after making an error in her order during Toby Carvery's £1 summer deal.

Like many munch spots during the cost-of-living crisis, the chain wants you to be able to feed your kids for less over the long summer holidays.
Toby Carvery's solution: a scheme that allows little ones to eat for just £1 with a voucher you can grab off their app - the deal expires today (1 September).

It includes children's mains they'll love - yummy veggie fingers, a chicken burger, mac 'n' cheese, tomato and meatball pasta, as well as three sausages with a Yorkshire pudding as well as as unlimited veggies and potatoes from the Carvery deck.

According to the website's Ts&Cs, this means 'Upon presentation of a voucher, guests will be able to purchase children's main meals for £1. This will allow up to 2 children per party to have a main meal for £1 per full paying adult. This does not include drinks.'
Many got down there over the rainy summer holidays to take advantage but it was Claire Ambler who pasted it in the bargain-lovers favourite social spot: Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group.

Her post said: ''I've just seen this on the Toby Carvery app.

''Thought it might come in useful for those with kids/grandkids/etc.''
However mum-of-four Stephanie Ng was quick to comment and warn other parents that they needed to be careful when it came to washing down the bargain scran.

''Just don't buy drinks - ask for tap water!" she warned.

''We made the mistake of asking for drinks a few years ago and added about £20 to the bill.''

If tap water just isn't quenching their thirst the menu and you want to treat them, options include:

Pip's Organic Strawberry & Banana Smoothie, Pip's Organic Pineapple & Mango Smoothie (V) (VE), Fruit Shoot® Orange

Orange with real fruit and no added sugar, Fruit Shoot® Apple & Blackcurrant and Robinsons Apple & Blackcurrant Squash - just remember you'll need to fork out a little bit more than your £1 deal.
