Khloe Kardashian has legally changed her son’s name.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star welcomed her second child last summer and has only just officially changed the little tot's moniker.
The Good American co-founder, who is already mother to five-year-old True, had her second baby with Canadian-American basketball player, Tristan Thompson, 32, back in August of last year and has finally settled on a permanent name for him. So, what was his name before the Kardashians star changed it?
Well, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE, Khloe, 39, initially listed her son's name as Baby Kardashian on his birth certificate. She chose the name as she was yet to decide on a permanent one at the time but, on Thursday (31 August), all of that changed.
A Los Angeles county judge has now granted the name change for the now 13-month-old and has officially decreed him Tatum Thompson.
California law allows parents to give their child either the paternal last name, the maternal last name or a combination of the two, and the final decision reached will be permanent unless the court decides to intervene.
TMZ reported back in June that Khloe initially gave her son the legal surname Kardashian when he was born, but she later changed his surname to Thompson. Khloe announced last year that she had welcomed her son via a surrogate mother and has since opened up on The Kardashians about how she navigated the process.
Showing her support for her daughter, Kris Jenner told Khloe that she needed to go easier on herself handling the whole mom thing
"I wish I wasn't so critical of myself," Khloe said during a confessional, "because I'm very kind to everyone else, I'm just not very kind to myself. But being a mom is truly one of, just the most magical experiences ever."
Khloe and Tristan organized for a surrogate to carry their second child before it was revealed he had fathered a baby with another woman.
A statement from Khloe's representative previously told the Daily Mail their second baby together was conceived in November.
"We can confirm True will have a sibling," the statement said.
"Khloe is incredibly grateful to the extraordinary surrogate for such a beautiful blessing. We'd like to ask for kindness and privacy so that Khloe can focus on her family."
In another episode of The Kardashians, Khloe candidly spoke about her relationship with her son when Kris asked about her surrogacy experience three months after Tatum’s birth.
“When you compare it between True and him, it's a very different experience, the connection,” she begins. “With True, it took me a couple of days, to be like, 'OK, this is my daughter and I was super into it,' but just days.
"With him, it's taking me months. I love him and I love kids, but I definitely still don't have that complete bond, but so many people say it takes time.”
Kris added: “I think that for you, you've been through a lot.
"Your emotions are spent on trying to deal with trauma and all the stuff that you've been through and I think you have to remember that.
"I mean, you have to give yourself a little bit of credit.”
Khloe said she feels ‘guilty’ that her connection with her son isn’t the same as True’s; however, she maintains that she doesn’t treat each child differently.
But Kris begged her daughter to be less critical of herself as whenever she comes over, Khloe is ‘mother of the year, always feeding someone or entertaining someone or doting on your kids'.
"You're the most attentive person to all of us," she said.
