People are calling gripping new series 'the best thing on Netflix'

Netflix viewers are seriously praising the new gripping TV series titled, Who is Erin Carter?

The TV show was released on the streaming service on August 24 and centers around a secretive substitute teacher named Erin (played by Evin Ahmad) who has moved to Barcelona, Spain with her family in hopes of covering her tracks.

However, the seemingly ordinary protagonist's life is at risk of unraveling when it becomes apparent that she is more than she lets on after her local grocery store is held up by an armed robber.
Erin starts fighting the gunmen with slick moves which leads to the bewildered police questioning how she's managed it. Soon, her peaceful life in the country spirals out of control, and her mysterious past is revealed.

Directed by Jack Lothian, the new seven-part thriller casts Sean Teale as Erin's husband Jordi, and Indica Watson as the couple's daughter Harper. The Knot actress Susannah Fielding also features in all but one of the episodes and Dorian Gray actor Douglas Henshall plays Daniel Lang, who is the main villain of the series.

Upon watching the suspenseful drama, many users rushed to social media to applaud the streaming giant's new show. One person declared: "Who is Erin Carter is probably the best thing on Netflix in a long time."

Another expressed: "Who is Erin Carter is the best series amongst all on Netflix Right now. Highly recommended."

A third boasted that the series was "10/10" while a fourth shared: "Who is Erin Carter? was such a good watch, there’s something about the storytelling style that made everything feel so authentic and believable."







Fans might be loving the movie as it also has a 65% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, but what do critics have to say?

Critic Whitney Friedlander for Paste Magazine gave the show a 6.5/10 rating and said: "While the genre desperately needs to find its fun once again, unfortunately, Netflix’s attempt with Who Is Erin Carter? just isn’t the series to do it."

Chris Joyce for the YouTube channel Movies and Munchies gave the thriller a low 2.5/5 rating and explained that while it "has an interesting premise for the story and maintains some good intrigue for about half the show," the rest of the drama is "overly convenient and excessively layered" after the context is "established".

Meanwhile, Juan Pablo Russo for EscribiendoCine gave an 8/10 rating and shared (translated from Spanish to English): "Deftly navigates the conventions of the contemporary action genre. With a mixture of suspense, drama, and action, this British production set in Barcelona offers an experience full of intrigue and adrenaline."
