Keke Palmer and Darius Jackson reportedly break up after he outfit-shamed her

Keke Palmer and Darius Jackson have reportedly split following the controversy after Jackson outfit-shamed Palmer last month.

The situation unfolded when the 29-year-old star attended an Usher concert in Las Vegas, where she was spotted in a close moment with the 44-year-old singer as he serenaded her with his classic hit 'There Goes My Baby' in the VIP section.

A video circulated on social media showing Palmer wearing a daring black mesh dress paired with a strapless bodysuit underneath. The video quickly went viral on July 5, drawing both awe and criticism.
Palmer's boyfriend, Darius Jackson, who is also the father of their five-month-old son, took to Twitter to air his thoughts on the outfit. He retweeted the video, accompanied by a pointed caption that ignited a strong reaction from the public.

Jackson's tweet read, "It’s the outfit tho... you a mom," an expression of his apparent discontent with the bold choice.

Despite facing backlash for his remark, Jackson stood by his opinion, following up with a "controversial" tweet: "We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is."

"This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case," he added, though these tweets have since been removed.

It's unknown how the couple dealt with this behind closed doors, but a source has told PEOPLE that the pair have split as Jackson seeks to work on himself.
"He's moved on," the source said, before adding that the couple will now work on co-parenting while Jackson seeks to further his acting career. "You don't have to be in the same household to be good parents," the source went on.

Since the incident, Palmer and Usher have starred in a music video together titled Boyfriend, in which some of the lyrics state: "Somebody said that your boyfriend’s looking for me/Oh that’s cool."

To add to this, last month Palmer launched her own line of merchandise, complete with taglines reflecting her response to the controversy.

On her official website, the actress is now showcasing an 'I’m a Motha' crewneck retailing at $45, as well as a 'To the Bulls***' tee available for $30.

Fans and followers of the star have applauded her savvy marketing approach, with many praising her for handling the situation with grace and humor while promoting a message of empowerment. Usher himself joined in, commenting on Palmer's Instagram post to show his support: "The Big Boss!! Thank U for coming!"

The star also spoke to PEOPLE and gave his thoughts on the scenario, stating: "I think everybody's vision or a version of what they felt happened there just leads you back to just really having a good time in Las Vegas. And that's what I hope came out of it. Rather, it was a conversation of what was going on with us having fun in front of the audience or conversation about that song."
